TH Uniland Golf & Country Club (4*) 29. Dec. 2006

The Uniland Golf & Country Club is a mostly flat and long golf course with a lot of water and lakes. I played with Ju and friends all 3 courses in one day with a real Thai meal in every break. I really enjoyed this day as the best golf day this holiday although the result was good but not the best I did this December.
Kuno played the courses C/A/B with 54/50/49 hits while Ju used 55(18 putt)/50(18)/61(23).

Golf course: 27 holes, 3 times par 36, course A/B/C men (white) 3185/3246/3015 yards, lady (red) 2843/2949/2493 yards
Fees: Green fee WD for 18 holes 600 THB, caddy 250 THB
How to get there: From the west of Bangkok take the highway 338 into the direction of Nakhon Prathon (the same as for Kanchanaburi) for about 35 minutes and then follow the sign leaving the highway to the left another 5 minutes.

Do not let the water or the path influence your direction!

It is always a nice feeling to let the ball fly over a long water distance and finally it will land nicely on the fairway.

This course has very nice trees as you can imagine from the nice trees at the back. They do look tiny on the photo but are beautiful in reality.

To enjoy such a nice sunset after a full day golf (27 nice holes) was perfect for the last golf day this year.

BKK Pinehurst Golf & Country Club (3*) 24. Dec. 2006

The Pinehurst Golf & Country Club is flat but with a lot of water and very nice and some tricky greens. Course NORTH and SOUTH is ready to bee played in the night time that is way our friend Gym likes to play there regularly.

Kuno played 43 (16 putts) and 46 (17 putts) and Ju played 45 (18 putts) and 51 (22 putts). As i played most consistent I think I did win as Gym played most of his drives with a slice out of the golf course or into the water.

Golf course: 27 holes, par 108 (we played the hole 8 of the course NORTH in the par 4 setup), men (we played from orange which is not on the score card, so the blue lengh is) 3089/3010/3072, lady (red) 2610/2467/2671
Green fee: WD 1200 THB, Caddy 200 THB
How to get there: This golf club is 45 minutes outside Bangkok in the direction of the old airport (which will be the new domestic airport as I heared)

The new golfer (6 month) will just miss this putt on the hole 18. As you can see on the following picture Ju and the friend of Gym are already happy and finished.

TH Blue Sapphire (3*) 22. Dec. 2006

The Blue Sapphire golf club is a nicely build course based on the passed blue sapphire mining operations. Around the mining lakes you can play good golf and soon they will add another 9 holes to the existing 27 when the next mining area will be closed and filled with water again.
Although it is not flat as you can play up and down some remaining hills, there is no need for a cart.
Kuno played 61 (21 putts) and 59 (21 putts) on the back 9 while Ju just used 61 (22 putts) and 55 (20 putts).

Golf course: 27 holes, par 108, men (blue, A and B course) 6285 yards, lady (red) 5227 yards (C course is 3032 resp. 2581 yards)
Green fee: WD 600 THB, WE 800 THB, Caddy 200 THB
How to get there: 10 minutes west of Kanchanaburi you drive to the north on 3086. After about 50 minutes you will see the golf club on the left (at the moment just 1km before the entry to the current mining area.
This is a nice down hill par 3. The green is an island in the middle of water.
Yes I did not hit the ball perfectly relaxed on this tee off, but still it was a surprise to me that I just managed to pass the valley and the ball stopped on the right in the trees.
The following picture shows a nice par 4. The green is to the left and moving into the water.

On the left behind the water you can see some old dark trees.

If you have the time you can visit the mining area, the stone selection and finishing which is 5 minutes beside the golf club. You should make an appointment one day in advance as the guides (only Thai speaking) and the various processes are not run all day. Below you can see the current mining area which will be finished soon. If the can find a good lava arm with stones the will keep following towards the area where we are standing. When they are finished they just stop the water pumps and the are will be full with water again after 1 night.

Ju is trying to wash the blue sapphire stones out of this earth.

TH Nichigo Resort & Country Club (4*) 21. Dec. 2006

The Nichigo Golf Club is the best golf course we played around Kanchanaburi this year! Tee-off, fairway and the greens (even the bunkers) are wunderful prepared. You can play aside nice flowers and around nicely placed water. I like this course! You should not miss it.
Golf course: 27 holes, par 108, men (blue) 3334/3326/3442 yards, lady (red) 2839/2863/2958 yards
Green fee: WD 600 THB, WE 1200 THB, Caddy 200 THB
How to get there: From Kanchanaburi you follow 3199 to the west about 20 minutes. The golf club will be on the left side.
Par 3: After hitting the ball nicely offer the tiny valley onto the green (we both placed the target too much to the right)
.. you have to pass this thin bridge onto the green.
I planned to play onto the fairway but the hook finally placed the ball in ...
... the bunker just some meter before the fairway.

Yes, also in Thailand you can use an umbrella even in the best sunny weather.

TH Srinagarind Dam Golf Course (2*) 20. Dec. 2006

The Srinagarind Dam Golf Course is a hilly course with some few nice views to the dam. At the moment they are still building it up with some nice pass bridges and new ways. But if you plan to visit the waterfall and eat on the nice terrasse with the beautiful view onto the dam lake it is worth playing here.
Golf course: 18 holes, par 72, men (white) 6047 yards, lady (red) 5456
Green fee: WD and WE 300 THB, Caddy 200 THB
How to get there: Follow the 3199 from Kanchanaburi to the west about 1h. You can follow the signs for The Erawan Lake Resort. The golf course is a part of this area.

On the following picture you can see Ju in bushes chipping the ball back onto the fairway. Behind you see the dam lake.

Here you see how they build a new bridge for this par 4. The goal was to play a long ball over the two trees just behind Ju. Kuno played a little to much to the right but a nice draw did bring the ball back just on the fairway.
Below you can see the nice view from the restaurant onto the dam lake.

This is the view from the middle hill between the two dam walls. We have been to late and everything was closed already. The officer could not understand how we can still be here and offered us nicely to drive us back to our car (which actually also should not have been parked just before the left dam wall, as we did).

Two days later we made our way to the Pra That Cave (also part of The Erawan Lake Resort) which is a hard 20 minutes away from any normal road. So take a Jeep or Pickup or be prepared (as we learned) for a hard ride.
It was a hard and long way up to the cave.
The big white ...
The dino:

I was nice to walk just with a privat guide for 400 THB but also scary and with just one lamp it was really dark.

To go out it was even harder than to go in because I could not find the right position to stand up again.
